Prayer is one of those experiences, I think, which invites us to go, or journey, from that which is essentially an earthly focus to one that is essentially heavenly; from mortal to immortal; from temporary to eternal; from limited to limit-less. No wonder we are often unsure and uneasy about how to proceed. “I am going to pray” is the only journey I know which starts on our knees.
